Nowadays people are concerned about their health. They eat healthily, exercise daily, and go for regular body checkups. Although, there are certain conditions that your physician can’t examine until you bring your symptoms up to them. One of the conditions is Urethral Stricture. In this condition, your urethra becomes so narrow that you start to have difficulty in passing urine. The only proven way to treat it is by using Urethrotome, a device used for the cutting of Urethral Stricture.

Some of the causes of Urethral Stricture:

    • It could occur due to accidents, making your bladder or urethra injured, for example, falling on the frame of a cycle between the legs.
    • An accident that has injured your pelvic bones.
    • Enlargement of the prostate.
    • Cancer of the urethra, which is extremely rare.
    • Urinary tract infections, etc.

    How Urethral Stricture is diagnosed:

Most people have some hesitancy going to a doctor and talk about this. They think that what doctor or other people will think about them. But the fact is, Urethral Stricture is very common, especially in males than females. So, it’s highly likely that your doctor examines patients with this condition on a daily basis. Once the doctor examines the symptoms, they may tell the patients to go through some tests, as the patient might have some congenital disabilities. These tests include ultrasound, retrograde urethrogram or cystography, etc.

    Treatment procedures for Urethral Stricture:

Once a patient has developed Urethral Stricture, it will not disappear on its own. Medicines do not play a vital role in the treatment of this condition. And what most doctors prescribe is cutting of the urethral stricture using urethrotome. Although, the surgery is recommended only in severe complications like a severe problem in urination, bladder stones, etc. This surgery is not life-threatening, and patients with this problem should consider having it before the stricture gets worse.
