    WHAT IS DEPRESSION?

Depression is a mental health disorder that affects our daily living. It affects your body completely as it can cause numerous sensitive and physical glitches. It is such a dangerous state as it can cause your brain to think that it is not worth alive here in this world. It leaves you hopeless. It is sometimes called major depressive disorder or clinical depression. This is deadly if left untreated. The symptoms a person shows when in depression includes irritability, loss of interest, loss of appetite, fatigue, impairment in functioning etc.

    DEPRESSION VS SADNESS:

Both depression and sadness are linked but are not the same. Sadness is a reaction to some loss or problem that causes emotional upset. Sadness is just a temporary feeling and it fades away as times passes.

    DEPRESSION AND GRIEF: THE DIFFERENCE:

To many, grief and depression are the same. It is defined as the reaction to any loss whether physical or emotional. It varies individually and one may see the mentioned symptoms when in grief. The symptoms may include change in appetite, disturbed sleep, lack of concentration, suicidal thoughts, anger or sadness, feeling of hopelessness and etc.

WHAT IS THE FINE LINE BETWEEN DEPRESSION, SADNESS AND GRIEF?

All of the above three sentiments are closely connected, but there are minor differences between them. Sadness is one feature of depression but is not depression. But yes, if your sadness lasts more than two weeks, then it is not only sadness and more than that. Similarly, there is a fine line between grief and depression. If you lose something, you may feel grief for a period of time and you may need counseling to cope with that. But if you are grieving for a long time and this disturbs your life, it may lead to depression and you should now seek a professional help.

    TREATMENT OF THESE EMOTIONS:

When your sadness and grief start disturbing your normal routine life, you should think about visiting a therapist. He might help you in telling strategies for coping up with your disturbances as this might leads to severe depression. You can talk to a psychologist about your situation. Don’t feel ashamed of telling him about your inner feelings. As he may refer you some medications like Xanax 2mg to keep you calm and relaxed. A therapist who deals such patients are able to evaluate the thoughts and help you return to a normal life pattern. Sometimes, one who is facing these situations doesn’t know exactly what is happening with him, so better visit a psychologist who can help you return to the path of life without destroying much of it.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO YOURSLEF TO COPE WITH THESE SITUATIONS:

    • Be with people that bring out the positivity in you.
    • Engage yourself in some fun activities.
    • Be patient with yourself when you are recovering from sadness and depression.
    • Make sure that you get enough sleep.
    • Maintain a healthy diet routine.
    • Exercise regularly.
    • Practice some meditation or relaxation methods.
