Anxiety levels seem to be at an all-time high in 21st century USA. Studies have been taking place to see if cannabis can help by reducing feelings of anxiety that a sufferer experiences. The effects of certain strains seem to differ from person to person. For some, straight after using cannabis, they can experience a relief in their feelings of anxiety. For others, a strain they use may in fact increase feelings of anxiety. There is a fine balance to strike.

Selecting the correct strain is therefore critical to the success of cannabis being used as a viable treatment for anxiety. To find a strain that works for you, it is recommended that you start off by using a strain that has a low concentration of the psychoactive component of THC to ensure you don’t have a nasty result. Strains that are low in THC, are often high in CBD, so these are the strains to look out for.

So, if you are just starting out, which strains should you try?

    Strawberry Cough

Strawberry Cough is used by sufferers of social anxiety. This type of anxiety is one of the more difficult ones to try and treat, as a sufferer wants to be social and remain alert, so they can interact with people in a meaningful way, but also to be relaxed at the same time. The Strawberry Cough strain exhibits many Sativa like properties, but we believe it behaves in such a way to keep you both calm and energized.

    Jack Herer

The second strain we would recommend is the popular Jack Herer strain. Like Strawberry Cough, this is a sativa, but it has a slightly higher concentration of THC. This means there is a greater psychoactive effect. Many people find that Sativas created racing thoughts, but some people have found the opposite to be true. From my personal experience, I found the strain to give a unique feeling of euphoria complemented by a calming and relaxing feel which made my anxiety disappear. The strain is broadly similar to the Northern Light strain, which actually comes from Jack Herer.

For more strain recommendations, we would recommend you consult your nearest dispensary –  https://cannabis.net/find/dispensary.
